Award Winners at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival


Artists love the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver, CO, traditionally held around the 4th of July. It is competitive, exhibits some of the best art in the business and the patrons often vie to collect it.

Best of show: Chia Haruta, of Hanover Mich., for work in the graphics and printmaking category, whose graphics are illustrated here exhibited at the Winter Park Sidewalk Arts Festival where she won second place.

Second place: Bill Starke, of Aurora, for work in sculptures

Third place: Trish Stevenson, of Black Earth, Wis., for jewelry

Merit awards: James Barnes, of Woolwine, Va., in wood; Frederick Warren, of North Muskegon, Mich., in glass; Gregg Graff and Jacki Pouyat, of Sequim, Wash., in mixed media; Chris Antieau, of Manchester, Mich., in fiber; and Heinrich Toh, of Seattle, in graphics and printmaking

Festival juror awards: Juror Elissa Auther awarded fiber artist Leah Evans, of Madison, Wis.; juror Kirsten Gerdes awarded mixed media artist Chis Ake, of San Antonio, Texas; and juror Robert Stadnycki awarded sculptor Theodore Gall, of Ojai, Calif.
