Art & Craft in Fort Lauderdale

Those of you who have been around for a long time remember with fondness the exciting art festival sponsored by the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art held on Las Olas Blvd. for many years. It was definitely a highlight of the year for many artists and art patrons.

As time went by promoter Howard Alan made arrangements with the merchants on Las Olas to hold an art show there several times a year. His events continue in this luxe location to this day.

In an email received this week from Kellie LeFever it looks as though everyone will have more opportunities to exhibit and shop on Las Olas:

Here at Las Olas Riverfront in Ft Lauderdale we are starting are own Art and Craft Festival for the summer time every saturday from 12 to 6pm. We are working on the details right now and hope to have this up in running in two weeks. The goal is that this festival will be so big we will have this going all year round. If this is somthing you would be interseted in please contact me any time.

Really nice site you have here. I’ve been reading for a while but this post made me want to say 2 thumbs up. Keep up the great work

Thank you. If you live near Ft. Lauderdale, I’d sure like to hear some follow up on these new events. It is hard to believe that Florida needs any more events of this type, but handled properly they might just work for everyone: promoters, artists and the art/craft buying public.
